Annual holiday gift card survey from the RGCA highlights consumer gift card trends this holiday season
The holidays are almost upon us, and poll after poll shows that consumers are planning to spend even less this year than they did last year during the holiday shopping season. But, despite the tight wallets, there is a silver lining for many retailers: retail gift cards.
The Retail Gift Card Association, in conjunction with SurveyMonkey, polled nearly 3,000 Americans to gain insight on how consumers will be integrating retail gift cards (cards that can be spent at one merchant or group of merchants) into their holiday shopping routine. What did we find? While 73 percent of consumers said they’d be spending less on holiday shopping this year, 74 percent plan to give at least one, and up to five, gift cards that can be redeemed at retail locations
